4 Tips For Low Back Pain
1. GET MOVING
Find an activity that doesn't bother your back. Studies have shown that walking can be one of the best activities to help low back pain.
Whatever you do, don't sit still!
2. FOCUS ON YOUR BREATHING
The tendency is to hold your breath in anticipation of pain. This will cause the muscles to tighten and can increase your pain.
For instance, when you go to stand up, try exhaling for a count of 4 seconds.
3. TAKE BREAKS
Do NOT push through pain. Slowly increase your activity level by taking breaks as needed to build up your activity tolerance.
4. HAVE THE RIGHT MINDSET
Self-efficacy, or the belief in yourself, has shown to be a big indicator in the prognosis of low back pain.
Believing that you will get better goes a long way towards your recovery!
